The Hanale Mirror is made from reclaimed wood in a Shou Sugi Ban finish.
Shou Sugi Ban, is an ancient Japanese exterior finishing technique, which preserves wood by charring it with fire. The technique also achieves a natural black finishing without any of the chemicals common timber stains contain.
We specially source the Hanale Mirror reclaimed wood for its unique weathered characteristics. The wood is reclaimed after being discarded when old Javanese buildings are dismantled, once no longer safe to live in.
After enduring harsh weather conditions for decades, our reclaimed wood develops a beautiful character with a rustic, engraved look that adds an element of life to our designs. We embrace these features as a testament to the unique qualities of natural materials; they are an integral and sort after part of our design process. While the design of our reclaimed wood pieces remains the same, every piece will have its own unique characteristics as part of the authenticity of reclaimed wood. This means slight irregularities may occur in size and finish specifications.
W 100cm | D 4cm | H 200cm
The Hanale Mirror can be hung portrait or landscape, hooks on the back frame to accommodate either option.
While the design of our reclaimed teak pieces remains the same, every piece will have its own unique characteristics as part of the authenticity of reclaimed wood. This means slight irregularities may occur in size and finish specifications.

Every Uniqwa piece has a story…
Our collections are mostly individually hand-made pieces. As most of our products are made from natural materials, elements such as texture, colour, and pattern may vary piece to piece.
Reclaimed timbers, naturally weathered materials and off-cuts otherwise discarded are frequently part of Uniqwa design features.
Natural splitting, cracking, and loss of natural oils may occur and form part of the characteristics and beauty of Uniqwa products. These are not viewed as imperfections or faults, rather part of the natural life and beauty of timber.
We believe the use of natural materials and hand-crafted elements result is a testament to the unique qualities found in materials originating from nature.
As every monitor displays different colour tones, the colour of pictures on our website and social media cannot be taken as a true colour indication of the actual products. Some product's tones may appear to vary from catalogue or website images.
Humidity causes mould to grow. Limited airflow and humidity create a microclimate for mould to develop. In some cases, mould will begin growing on furniture, clothing and other contents within the home.
It is not an inherent fault of the furniture, clothing and other contents; rather humidity or dampness in the air can supply enough moisture for mould growth on any surface.
Mould can occur anywhere, and humid climates provide the optimal conditions for the fungi to grow and thrive on any surface.
