The Hendrix Sofa with Low Rider Arm redefines the collection’s relaxed form with a wider, lower profile and grounded silhouette. The extended arm detail introduces a stronger architectural presence while maintaining the soft, informal character of the original design.

Constructed from responsibly sourced timber and fully wrapped in foam, the frame is layered with feather cushioning for a deep, generous sit. Upholstered in full-grain aniline leather in tan, the slipcover retains the hide's natural markings and will develop a rich patina over time.

ANILINE LEATHER

This product is made from premium full-grain aniline leather, renowned for its luxury appeal and suitability for boutique settings. Aniline leather is considered the finest quality and most natural-looking type of leather. Its strength, soft feel, and artistic textures showcase the unique irregularities on the hide’s surface, highlighting its distinct character.

Made from the topmost layer of the hide, the most durable and desirable part. This leather undergoes an aniline treatment using soluble dyes to preserve its natural grain, markings, scars, and wrinkles. This process ensures that the leather remains in its most natural, raw, and soft state, with no protective coating applied.

During the aniline dyeing process, the leather absorbs dye at varying rates, leading to high colour variation. The natural oils in the leather, combined with the aniline dye, subtly affect the final hue, making each hide one of a kind. Since no pigments or coatings are used, the leather absorbs spills quickly and has low stain resistance, requiring careful maintenance.

Only around 5% of full-grain leather hides are considered perfect enough for aniline treatment, further emphasising its premium quality. Over time, this leather will develop a patina quickly, aging beautifully while remaining soft and supple due to the lack of additional processing or stiffening treatments.

Leather is a product of nature imbued with its own history and life, resulting in distinct and individual characteristics. Each piece will inevitably show unique, diverse signs of history and life.

Each skin will present both individual and natural characteristics, including different structures and discrepancies in colour. Scars, scratches, bites or rough spots aren't flaws, but a sign that your leather is natural and organic; such markings are not considered faults but rather inherent features that showcase the organic nature of leather. We celebrate these unique qualities as they contribute to the authenticity of each piece.

Characteristics

Aniline leather is a premium, untreated hide dyed with soluble colour that preserves the leather's natural grain, texture, and markings. Soft and luxurious to the touch, it develops a rich patina and unique character over time.

Common Issues or Risks

Due to its porous nature and lack of surface coating, aniline leather is highly sensitive to moisture, oils, and UV exposure. Spills, body oils, and direct sunlight can cause staining, fading, or drying. Natural imperfections and tonal variation are to be expected and embraced.

Preventative Care

Keep furniture away from direct sunlight, heating vents, and air conditioners to prevent fading and cracking. Apply a high-quality leather protector formulated for aniline leather to help resist staining. Rotate cushions and seating positions regularly to promote even ageing and wear.

Cleaning Instructions

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth or a lightly dampened cloth using distilled water only. Blot spills immediately without rubbing to avoid spreading moisture. Condition the leather every 3-6 months with a specialised leather conditioner to maintain softness and suppleness.

Cautions / What to Avoid

Avoid harsh cleaners, alcohol-based products, detergents, or abrasive cloths, all of which can damage the surface. Do not soak or scrub the leather. Protect from contact with skincare products, dark fabrics, and sharp objects to preserve its natural finish.
