The Nhara Floor Lamp explores volume, texture and shadow through a layered hand-forming composite process that gives each piece its own surface depth and tonal character. 

Its sculptural silhouette combines a tapered base with an angled shade, creating a strong architectural form that sits comfortably within residential and commercial interiors. 

Each piece is formed over an iron substrate frame and hand-finished with a composite of reclaimed paper fibres and natural binders. This layered process creates the collection's distinctive texture, depth and sculptural character, with subtle variation in tone and surface ensuring no two pieces are identical.

Dark Roast Finish

Crafted from hand-formed papier-mâché composite in small batches, each lamp is individually finished by hand.

The Dark Roast finish is intentionally deep and richly layered, drawing inspiration from roasted coffee and aged earth tones. Depending on natural light, surrounding finishes and the individual hand-applied colouring process, the lamp may appear lighter or darker than in photography. Tonal variation between pieces is expected and forms part of the design.

No two lamps are identical. Variations in texture, form, tone and surface movement are intentional outcomes of the process and central to the character of each piece.

Characteristics

Papier-mâché is a lightweight, handcrafted material made from layered paper and adhesive. Each piece features individual variations-such as visible cracks, clumps, and slight flaking-that contribute to its artisanal and sculptural quality.

Common Issues or Risks

Due to its delicate structure, papier-mâché is prone to cracking, flaking, and warping if exposed to moisture or sudden impact. Prolonged exposure to sunlight may lead to fading or surface dryness, increasing the risk of deterioration.

Preventative Care

Display in a dry, indoor environment away from moisture and direct sunlight. Position pieces in low-traffic areas to minimise the risk of knocks or accidental damage. When not in use, wrap in soft fabric or acid-free tissue and store in a stable, protected location to prevent dust build-up and scratches.

Cleaning Instructions

Dust gently using a dry, soft cloth or a gentle brush. Do not use damp cloths, cleaning sprays, or liquids, as papier-mâché is highly sensitive to moisture.

Cautions / What to Avoid

Avoid all exposure to water, high humidity, or wet cleaning methods. Do not place in direct sunlight for extended periods. Handle carefully to prevent chipping or surface cracks. Do not stack or place heavy objects on papier-mâché pieces.
