A Designory Project

The Vela Properties
A collective hub of design

The Designory has created three two-storey luxury homes, Samudra, Sikata and Lavana, each inspired by nature and all its beauty. Positioned on an expansive quarter-acre block just a short distance from the laid-back town centre of Byron Bay, the Vela Properties is where high-end construction meets luxurious styling.

All three properties are purpose-built for their end use; Lavana, a family home, Sikata, the dream abode and shoot location for the Founder of The Designory; and Samudra, a permanent holiday rental and shoot location.

The homes each possess their own design personality whilst also working in cohesion with one another. Throughout each property, you’ll find a combination of various textures, tones, and design elements, all paired together with a selection of Uniqwa Collections pieces.

Samudra

The first of the three homes, the Samudra House, is openly warm & inviting, with rich timbers, layers of white textured surfaces and contemporary design accents throughout. The property is inspired by the surrounding raw coastline with subtle hints of Mediterranean influences. The home is perfect for relaxation, with four expansive bedrooms, an entertainer’s kitchen, and multiple indoor and outdoor living zones.

Sikata

Sikata, the property positioned in the middle, takes inspiration from the warm sandy tones of the nearby beaches, clifftops, and bushland, with Japanese-inspired elements also evident throughout. The home itself is an exploration of the Japanese aesthetic concept of wabi-sabi, meaning every aspect within celebrates handmade and artisanal design. Featuring four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living areas and lush outdoor entertaining areas, this home is ideal for reconnecting and unwinding.

Lavana

Lastly, Lavana House captures the essence of coastal cool with crisp white tones, blonde timbers, neutral stone, and a bright and airy feeling. Fresh and saturated in natural lighting, this playful home is effortlessly comfortable and is designed for Australian indoor and outdoor living. This quintessential Byron Bay beach house offers four expansive bedrooms, multiple living areas and outdoor spaces.

These three unique properties are now home to a mixture of Uniqwa pieces, from the Zulu Sofa range and Zulu Hanging Chair perched on Samudra’s primary bedroom balcony to the custom painted Trunk Side Table positioned inside Sikata’s bedroom and the Tula Bar and Dining Chairs inside Lavana’s open kitchen space. The Designory team have beautifully paired each Uniqwa piece with stylish accessories.

The Designory is a multi-disciplinary in-house design studio renowned for its high-end styling transformations; The Vela Properties is another stunning project in its ever-growing portfolio.
