~ An Original Malawi Dining Chair ~
This sought after, unique piece of handcrafted art is made by the talented people of Malawi, Africa. These iconic chairs have made a significant impact on the design community around the world.
The handcraft tradition of sculpturing Malawi chairs is passed down from generation to generation. The authentic way each unique piece is made continues the tradition to this day.
Please note the original Malawi Dining Chair is made in remote Africa, remnants of the rustic production facilities such as dust or marks may be present. Frays may appear along the strands of the handwoven rattan.
Malawi chair craftspeople are known to use reclaimed vehicle and bicycle parts to help guide the shape of the chair. No two chairs are ever identical. Differences in sizing and seating height occur.
The Original Malawi Chair is truly a unique bespoke piece. We celebrate the natural imperfections and value the handmade nature as beautiful pieces of art.

Every Uniqwa piece has a story…
Our collections are mostly individually hand-made pieces. As most of our products are made from natural materials, elements such as texture, colour, and pattern may vary piece to piece.
Reclaimed timbers, naturally weathered materials and off-cuts otherwise discarded are frequently part of Uniqwa design features.
Natural splitting, cracking, and loss of natural oils may occur and form part of the characteristics and beauty of Uniqwa products. These are not viewed as imperfections or faults, rather part of the natural life and beauty of timber.
We believe the use of natural materials and hand-crafted elements result is a testament to the unique qualities found in materials originating from nature.
As every monitor displays different colour tones, the colour of pictures on our website and social media cannot be taken as a true colour indication of the actual products. Some product's tones may appear to vary from catalogue or website images.
Humidity causes mould to grow. Limited airflow and humidity create a microclimate for mould to develop. In some cases, mould will begin growing on furniture, clothing and other contents within the home.
It is not an inherent fault of the furniture, clothing and other contents; rather humidity or dampness in the air can supply enough moisture for mould growth on any surface.
Mould can occur anywhere, and humid climates provide the optimal conditions for the fungi to grow and thrive on any surface.
