Amanzi Dining Chair is a decorative option for indoors as well as outdoor undercover dining spaces.

Uniqwa in-house designer, Charl van Heerden designed the Amanzi Dining Chair with inspiration from the Chin Tribe of the Mindat area of Myanmar. Specifically from the face tattooing of the Chin women. This ancient ritual performed around the age of 8 was originally started by the Chin parents in an attempt to save their daughters from being taken. It was the law that the royal could marry whoever they wanted whenever they wanted. The face tattooing was an attempt to make them undesirable so as not to be stolen on a whim by a neighboring prince. Over the years, what was originally intended to make the women undesirable began to have the opposite effect. The full facial tattoos became signs of beauty for every Chin woman of the older generation. There is potential for beauty in is the way we see it that makes it beautiful.

With powder coated iron pipe frame and kubu rattan peel binding in a half-moon webbing pattern with clear lacquer topcoat and foam seat cushion in outdoor fabric, the Amanzi Dining Chair offers both unique design and durability.

Every Uniqwa piece has a story…

Our range is largely individually, hand-made pieces. As the majority of our products are made from natural materials, elements such as texture, colour and pattern may vary piece to piece.

Reclaimed timbers, naturally weathered materials and off-cuts otherwise discarded are frequently part of Uniqwa design features. Over time, natural splitting, cracking and loss of natural oils may occur and form part of the characteristics and beauty of Uniqwa products. These are not viewed as imperfections or faults, rather part of the natural life and beauty of timber.

We believe the use of natural materials and hand-crafted elements result in a testament to the unique qualities found in materials originating from nature.

As every monitor displays different colour tones, the colour of pictures on our website and social media cannot be taken as a true colour indication of the actual products. Some product's tones may appear to vary from catalogue or website images.
