Inspired by a classic antique three-tiered Chinese cabinet which is part of Charl van Heerden personal collection of global-inspired treasures, Charl's Bamboo range is designed for the modern home with recognition and respect to traditional craftsmanship.
The stunning Bamboo range features a reclaimed elm wood frame; sourced from old farmhouses and bleached to create a soft, light raw wood tone.
The bamboo slats door design embraces traditional craftsmanship. It features original mortise and tenon joinery, a method that connects the frame and door without modern hinges.
Each piece of the Bamboo range represents a section of the antique three-tiered Chinese cupboard in Charl's home. While the traditional Chinese kitchen cabinet was designed to circulate air around fruits and vegetables without letting in light and the lower compartments housed domestic chickens, the Bamboo range seamlessly fits into contemporary environments
Wonderfully pure and simple in construction, the organic and earthy design of the Bamboo range will bring a subtle degree of difference to any space.

The Bamboo Bedsides are sold as matching pairs (left & right). Please enquire for a single piece.
Please note that this range is handmade from vintage elmwood and therefore shows signs of wear and tear, marks, inconsistencies and imperfections. We consider this part of their charm and the natural beauty of the wood. These are not seen as faults or flaws but rather signs of their history and appeal.

Every Uniqwa piece has a story…
Our collections are mostly individually hand-made pieces. As most of our products are made from natural materials, elements such as texture, colour, and pattern may vary piece to piece.
Reclaimed timbers, naturally weathered materials and off-cuts otherwise discarded are frequently part of Uniqwa design features.
Natural splitting, cracking, and loss of natural oils may occur and form part of the characteristics and beauty of Uniqwa products. These are not viewed as imperfections or faults, rather part of the natural life and beauty of timber.
We believe the use of natural materials and hand-crafted elements result is a testament to the unique qualities found in materials originating from nature.
As every monitor displays different colour tones, the colour of pictures on our website and social media cannot be taken as a true colour indication of the actual products. Some product's tones may appear to vary from catalogue or website images.
Weather events such as high humidity and dampness, especially after periods of high rainfall, commonly cause mildew and mould to grow on the surface of wood.
While we favour the look of raw sanded wood, coating wood pieces with a wood sealer/water repellent product such as varnish or lacquer can help to make mould easier to remove from the surface or keep it from growing.
A coated product will cause moisture to bead up and run off the surface instead of penetrating and allowing mould spores and mildew to grow. Please note that adding a coating to the product will change the look and feel of the wood.
If you prefer to retain the original raw look that we favour and mould does appear, using a mould remover as soon as possible after the mould develops is advised to clean and maintain your product.
Should the mould have sunken roots into the wood, light sanding with fine sandpaper may become necessary to restore your piece.
